A Dy. Director of Education is acting as the
District Education Officer who is assisted by another Deputy Director Education
heads Education Department in the District. One District Inspector of Schools
is reporting to the Deputy Director of
Education regarding the activities of the Department
One Inspector of Schools in every Sub-Division
of the district report to the District Inspector of Schools regarding the
activities of the department. The Sub-Division level Inspectors of Schools are
assisted by Deputy Inspectors of Schools in his administrative jurisdiction.
All Higher Secondary and High Schools in the district, comprising of
Headmasters, Assistant Headmasters report to the Dy. Director of Education
whereas the Junior Basic and Senior Basic Schools report to the Sub-Division
level Inspector of Schools.
There are 188 Junior Basic schools (upto class
v), 224 Senior Basic Schools (upto class viii), 106 High Schools (upto class x)
and 62 Higher Secondary (upto class xii) schools in the district. There are
also 446 Junior Basic Schools spread over the ADC areas of the district. There
are also 3 Higher Secondary and 1 High School in the district, aided by the
State Government. There is also one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in the district,
at Banduar of Udaipur sub-division and two central schools (High I -X) 1 (one)
at Bagafa BSF Camp in Santirbazar Sub-Division another at Dhajanagar Assam
Rifles Camp in Udaipur Sub-Division.
95%
of the schools in the district have pucca building while 96% of the schools
have been given proper sanitation. 94% of the schools in the district have
proper drinking water while with regards to electrification, the coverage in
Higher Secondary, High and Senior Basic schools are 95%, 60% and 10%
respectively. All the Junior Basic Schools operating in Higher Secondary and
High Schools have been connected with electricity.
During the financial year 2002-03, the
department have constructed 24 Junior Basic and 12 Senior Basic schools under
PMGY. Also, 6 High School and 7 Senior Basic Schools have been constructed
under the State Plan and BADP respectively. During 2004-05, under BADP 03 High
school building and 2 H.S building out of 3 have been completed 01 is being
completed. Under PMGY 07 J.B School building have been constructed out of 8 and
1 is being constructed.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is being executed
in the district vigorously. 4 Junior Basic Schools and 5 Senior Basic Schools
in 2002-03, 47 J.B and S.B building in 2003-04, 58 J.B and 35 SB building in
200405, 25 JB and 30 SB building in 2005-06 have been constructed under SSA.
Moreover 58 additional classrooms in 2003-04 and 40 additional classrooms in
2005-06 have been constructed in SB schools under SSA. During the period
2001-06, 10 BRC hall out of 11 have been constructed. 1 is being completed and
26 CRC halls out of targeted 60 have been constructed. 34 are being completed
under SSA. The district outlay has been 263.58, 137.00, 858.24, 1234.84 and
1690.69 lakhs respectively for 2001-02,2002-03,2003-04,2004-05 and 2005-06.
Under SSA, 18 Higher Secondary and High
schools have been provided with computers. 16 more schools were given computers
under NEC funded scheme
866 teachers are posted in the Higher
Secondary Schools iri the district while 1637 teachers are posted in the High
Schools of the district. Senior Basic Schools in the district have 744 teachers
while the figure is 1287 for Junior Basic Schools. For Junior Basic Schools in
the ADC areas, the figure is 2939.
